Happy Italian Republic Day to all!

02 June 2023

Italian Republic Day is celebrated on 2 June, and on this day towns and cities all across Italy are decked out with the Italian flag.

The Frecce Tricolori, the aerobatic demonstration team of the Italian Air Force, will be broadcast live on TV as they fly over the ‘Eternal City’ of Rome. But what is the origin of the famous Italian tricolour?

The Cispadane Republic was the first to adopt the tricolour as the national flag in 1797 in Reggio Emilia, not far from Formigine, where Motovario was founded.

Its shape and symbols have changed over the course of more than two centuries, evolving to become what it is today. It now stands proudly in the Motovario HQ.
